As an Art Graduate, having my personal creative practice has always been important to me.
I'm a huge process freak, so a lot of this winds up as me playing with weird techniques and old equipment. I love seeing what opportunities they open to seeing the world differently. A lot of older equipment tends to find its way to me in dire need of some maintenance which I'm becoming more comfortable with. I proudly managed to resurrect a 1960's Graflex large format press camera which used to belong to a newspaper. I've even found myself fixing and selling some film cameras to new homes.
A thread you will notice in my personal work is that between Human and Nature. Ever since my early days in my degree course I've always been interested in this liminal space between us in our manmade world, and that ancient natural world that quietly works away around us. I love studying our various efforts at mark making into the landscape, and the landscapes efforts to erase them.
